Mitch Harris - an officer, gentleman, and big league baseball player - has been voted the winner of the 26th annual Tony Conigliaro Award. The award, begun in 1990 by the late Red Sox publicist and team historian Dick Bresciani to honor native son Conigliaro, is presented to a major league player who, in Bresciani's words, "has overcome adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination and courage that were trademarks of Tony C.''

Kevin Mulvey (Diamondbacks):
Rookie Kevin Mulvey, acquired from Minnesota on Sept. 1, was hit hard in his first career start. The right-hander had made two relief appearances for the Twins this season and two for the D-backs.

Mulvey (0-1) had barely gotten settled in on the mound before the Brewers jumped on top 1-0 in the first.

Milwaukee added two runs in the second and third innings and added one more before chasing Mulvey with two on and no one out in the fifth.

Ricky Stone (Free Agent):
Former Reds and Astros pitcher Ricky Stone was in the clubhouse before the game. Stone suffered a seizure last year on Aug. 8, after a Reds-Astros game in fact.

A brain tumor was discovered. He had surgery to remove the tumor and is undergoing chemotherapy.

“It’s going good,” he said. “I’m on chemo five days and off 23. I’m staying fit and doing all I can do.”

Stone gets some of his treatment in Houston. He stays with LanceBerkman when he’s down there.

Jeff Weaver made his first Triple-A start Saturday night, making 60 pitches and allowing one earned run in 3 1/3 innings. Eric Milton has pitched well in two of his past three starts at Triple-A. But Torre said "we have no plans yet [on replacing McDonald in the rotation]. Until they tell me we do, he'll still be that guy. No anticipation to change it. We haven't really talked a lot about any change right now. We'll wait until [Cory] Wade comes back and see where we are."

Phillies left-hander Jamie Moyer allowed one run in six innings Sunday in a 13-2 victory over the Marlins at Dolphin Stadium.
