Who Is The Best Pitcher On The International Market?

Is 2014 more of a pitcher-heavy year on the international market, or is it a better year for position players? I get asked that question every year, and the answer never changes: It’s always a better year for hitters.

Ex-Cardinals Watch 5-29-09: Franklin Perez Activated; Emil Brown Traded To Mets; J.D. Drew Ends Slump With HR; Clint Hurdle Fired

Scott Rolen (Blue Jays):
In the third inning, Wells pushed a pitch from Wakefield into right field for a single and then advanced to third on a base hit from Adam Lind. One batter later, Scott Rolen pulled an offering from Wakefield down the left-field line for a run-scoring double, knotting the score at 1. The Red Sox countered with a run in the fourth and, for a while, it appeared as though Boston's 2-1 advantage might hold.

Braden Looper (Brewers):
The Brewers' Braden Looper pitched seven innings for a win on Friday, and he was working with a heavy heart.

Felipe Lopez (Diamondbacks):
Coming off one of their poorer efforts of the season, the D-backs hope to look healthier for their nationally televised game on Saturday. But they're definitely due to get healthier. Felipe Lopez, Arizona's top hitter all season until being recently overtaken by smoking Justin Upton, is likely to be back at second base for the third game of the four-game series against the Braves.

Emil Brown (Mets):

Jason Marquis (Rockies):
Marquis (7-3) earned the win as he scattered six hits and struck out six in eight shutout innings. Chris Young (4-3), his Padres counterpart, was wild on the mound with six walks and allowed three runs, one earned, on two hits in six innings.

Coco Crisp (Royals):
And with switch-hitting center fielder Coco Crisp battling a sore shoulder, Royals manager Trey Hillman may have to juggle his lineup to get more right-handed bats in action.

"At the point that we're at right now, we're trying to heal Coco, and not knowing what I'm gonna have available for all three games -- just take it a day at a time," Hillman said.

Franklin Perez (Bridgeport):
The Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League reinstated him to the active list.
