Rumor: Bridgeport To Sign Felipe Lopez For 2014 Season
Rumor has it the Bridgeport Bluefish have signed 33 year old infielder Felipe Lopez to a contract for the 2014 season. Lopez is a 10 year MLB veteran having played in both the National League and the American League. His most notable offensive years were from 2005 to 2009 with about 5 different teams. In 2005, he was was part of the National League All Star team and won the Silver Slugger award as a shortstop. Defensively, however, he often led the majors or tied for most errors at his position, as well as in fielding percentage. Even with offensive success, he was a expendable player as demonstrated by his having been moved from team to team over the years.
