First baseman Dmitri Young remains at the team's spring training complex in Viera, Fla., but is getting closer to a rehab assignment -- probably a 20-day term with Class AAA Syracuse, acting general manager Mike Rizzo said. Young has struggled since the beginning of March with back problems. "Yeah, I think he's getting better," Rizzo said. "He played nine innings yesterday, so I think he's getting closer." . . .

Jeff Weaver (Dodgers):
Jeff Weaver made his first Triple-A start Saturday night, making 60 pitches and allowing one earned run in 3 1/3 innings. Eric Milton has pitched well in two of his past three starts at Triple-A. But Torre said "we have no plans yet [on replacing McDonald in the rotation]. Until they tell me we do, he'll still be that guy. No anticipation to change it. We haven't really talked a lot about any change right now. We'll wait until [Cory] Wade comes back and see where we are."

Jamie Moyer (Phillies):
Phillies left-hander Jamie Moyer allowed one run in six innings Sunday in a 13-2 victory over the Marlins at Dolphin Stadium. The victory completed a three-game sweep, put the Phillies (9-8) over .500 for the second time this season and moved them into second place in the National League East, 1 1/2 games behind the slumping Marlins.

Jack Wilson (Pirates):
An offense already hampered by injuries took another hit on Saturday when the Pirates announced that shortstop Jack Wilson would be placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a lingering left middle finger sprain.

Jason Marquis (Rockies):
The biggest performance of the day came from Marquis (3-1), whose quality start stopped a three-game losing streak for the second time this season. Marquis held the Dodgers scoreless through five before finally yielding a pair in the sixth on a leadoff single up the middle from Juan Pierre and a walk to Orlando Hudson followed by a double to right from James Loney.
