Scott Rolen continues to close in on a place in the Blue Jays' history book. On Wednesday night, he pulled a pitch from Rays left-hander Scott Kazmir down the left-field line for a fourth-inning double, extending his hitting streak to 25 games.

Right-hander Roy Halladay is not the only available player on the Blue Jays' roster. The Jays are shopping right fielder Alex Rios and would consider moving third baseman Scott Rolen, among others, major-league sources say.

The Cardinals jumped to a 4-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning against Suppan, who allowed only those four runs in 5 2/3 innings of work. The big blow belonged to Ryan, a .297 hitter entering the game who made the Brewers pay for an intentional walk two batters earlier to .219 hitter Joe Thurston by hitting a two-run double off the left-field wall. Daric Barton (Athletics):
It almost seems as if Barton is washed up at this point. The former top prospect in the system flamed out last year when given the big-league job at first base, and then he followed that up with a miserable start at Triple-A when he was sent back down to the minors to begin the year. After spending much of June in back in the big leagues more out of necessity than anything else, Barton is now trying to hit his way back, going 7-for-21 with three home runs since his return to Sacramento. He's still a relatively young 23, and he still has some kind of a chance.

Phillies Fans Still Hate J.D. Drew; Scott Thomas Released From Minor League Camp
Apparently, Phillies fans' hatred for J.D. Drew is not constrained by geography - the crowd at Clearwater gave the Phils' former No. 1 pick, who never signed with the team and re-entered the draft in 1998, a healthy booing when he stepped to the plate in the first inning.
Catcher Scott Thomas, son of former Phillies general manager Lee Thomas, was one of several minor leaguers released at the Carpenter Complex.
