Cardinals Release 14 Minor Leaguers

A favorite of those looking for late-round steals or pitchers who pitch beyond a pigeonhole, St. Louis Cardinals farmhand Trey Hearne stalled at Class AA Springfield and was among 14 minor leaguers released this week by the parent club.
The St. Louis Cardinals have released 14 minor league players, from Memphis to the Gulf Coast League. The group includes a 2010 All-Star and a former #15 organizational prospect.

Batavia Sweeps Doubleheader

Advantage Batavia.

Patrick Biserta's three-run double broke a 1-all tie and gave the Muckdogs a 4-1 triumph and a sweep of their doubleheader with the Williamsport Crosscutters Wednesday at Dwyer Stadium.

Pat Biserta's Bat Boosts Batavia To The Win: Batavia 3, Williamsport 2

With one swing of the bat in the bottom of the 4th inning, Patrick Biserta gave the Muckdogs all the runs they needed on Monday night. The 24th Round pick out of Rutgers picked a great time to hit his first professional home run.

Inch by inch, the Batavia Muckdogs are making their presence known as a top contender in the New York-Penn League.
