Nick Punto, whom the St. Louis Cardinals signed to a free-agent contract this past winter, will begin an injury rehab assignment today with the Double-A Springfield Cardinals.
The Springfield Cardinals may have their big bopper back in the lineup by the end of the week, as first baseman Matt Adams said Monday that he will take batting practice Tuesday and is hopeful he’ll be cleared from the disabled list “in three or four days.”
