Cardinals Minor League Spring Training Notebook 3-20-11

Following are the highlights from the fifth day of St. Louis Cardinals minor league games in spring 2011, on Sunday, March 20. On a camp day, Memphis and Springfield played as did Palm Beach and Quad Cities. After the by-default .500 day, in this case, 1-1-2, the Cardinals system is a combined 7-7-5 this spring.
The rules of spring allow for a non-roster player reassigned to the minor-league camp to resurface when needed with the major-league club. That explains how Ramon Vazquez was sent out one day and back in time to make a key error a few days later.
