Springfield Falls To NW Arkansas 5-1

On a jam-packed Saturday evening at Hammons Field it was Military Appreciation Night as the Cardinals wore their Camo Jerseys to honor the men and women fighting for our freedom. The Camo Jerseys would be auctioned off during the game to benefit the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. TriWest Alliance Thundersticks were also given away at the gates and round two of AM Pyrotechnics Fireworks would light up the sky after the game.
The Springfield Cardinals David Kopp may have won 12 games a year ago, but his first start of the 2011 season suggested he will need a few more starts before getting back into a rhythm.

Springfield Walk-Off Winner In 11

Coming off of consecutive late-inning losses, the Cardinals turned to Texas League Pitcher of the Week Deryk Hooker to tame the Arkansas Travelers and get back on the winning path.
Maikel Cleto, penciled in to make his first Double-A start Friday against Northwest Arkansas, loosened up his arm with a sixth-inning relief appearance Monday night in the Springfield Cardinals’ 5-4, 11-inning victory over the Arkansas Travelers.

Closer pro tem Matt Frevert unraveled with two outs in the ninth inning Saturday, serving up a go-ahead, three-run home run to Ryan Mount, as the Arkansas Travelers rallied to beat the Springfield Cardinals 5-4 at Hammons Field.

Springfield Beats Tulsa 7-4

The Cardinals welcomed the Tulsa Drillers to town on Friday night for the first of a four game set at Hammons Field. Springfield sent right hander Michael Blazek to the mound for his fourth start of the season and second at home. Rob Scahill started for Tulsa.
Matt Adams went 2-for-4 with a homer and a triple, and starting pitcher Michael Blazek had a season-high eight strikeouts to lead the Springfield Cardinals to a 7-4 victory over the Tulsa Drillers in the first game of a four-game series on Friday at Hammons Field.

Three relievers, including one kidnapped from the bullpen, and Alex Castellanos on Tuesday night helped the Springfield Cardinals dodge the franchise's worst 18-game start and doubleheader sweep.
