Mitch Harris to the Roger Dean Stadium mound two springs ago, with “Anchors Aweigh” playing during his warm-up, they did so to honor his service in the Navy and commitment to the organization while recognizing it was possible he would never pitch on a stage that big again.

Meet The Man Trying To Be First Navy Grad To Pitch In MLB In Almost 100 Years
On the first day of his second career, Mitch Harris slipped on a St. Louis Cardinals uniform and looked every bit the part. The last 8 ½ years in the Navy turned him into a machine: 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, with 5 percent body fat. He stood atop the pitcher’s mound excited, finally here after the interminable wait. Then he let his first pitch rip.

Cardinals, Kyle McClellan's Agent Have Been In Talks For Arbitration
McClellan returned Sunday from a hunting trip but his agent and GM John Mozeliak have been in contact in recent days. A source said talks have not resulted in any offers and the two sides are not close on a deal. The sides have until January 18 to agree to a contract or they must trade arbitration figures.

John Abbamondi, who has spent the last three seasons as the St. Louis Cardinals assistant general manager, is leaving the position for a vice president position with the San Diego Padres.
The Padres announced Wednesday that Cardinals assistant general manager John Abbamondi will be taking front-office position in San Diego. Abbamondi becomes the Padres' vice president, strategy and business analysis, after spending three years as the assistant GM in St. Louis.

Pro Baseball In Batavia In 2011 Likely, Says Rochester President
Today Batavia baseball fans learned that they're not without hope that some St. Louis Cardinals prospect will be hurling an opening day pitch at Dwyer Stadium in June, 2011.
Barring an unforeseen development, the Rochester Red Wings will return in 2011 as operators of the financially struggling Batavia Muckdogs franchise.

Batavia, Cardinals Extend Agreement
The Batavia Muckdogs and St. Louis Cardinals today announced a two-year extension of their working relationship through the 2012 season. A joint announcement was made by Cardinals Assistant General Manager John Abbamondi, Cardinals Director of Minor League Operations John Vuch, and Brian Paris, President of Genesee County Community Baseball, the non-for-profit that owns the Batavia Muckdogs Franchise.
Although the Red Wings have not firmly committed to having community baseball remain in Batavia next year, they will maintain a financial interest in ownership of the Muckdogs and in providing the team with an affiliate in the NY Penn League -- the St. Louis Cardinals.
