On the heels of a bounce-back season, Jaime Garcia had his $11.5 million option for 2016 exercised by the Cardinals on Monday. The move, which would have been unexpected at the start of the season, became more attractive for the Cardinals as they watched the left-hander perform well and stay relatively healthy upon his return from a third arm surgery.

Adam Wainwright Ready For Simulated Game; New Left Fielder; Roster Move
While injured Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is heading for the sidelines, probably for the better part of the next two weeks with a torn ligament in his left thumb, righthander Adam Wainwright will be coming off the sidelines.

Yadier Molina Has Torn Ligament In Thumb
Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said the Yadier Molina injury news was about as good as he could have hoped for but Molina still has a slightly torn ligament in his left thumb, an injury which certainly will keep Molina out for the balance of this weeklong home stand and probably longer.
