A week ago was the 21st anniversary of the night Cardinals third baseman Fernando Tatis made history at Dodger Stadium. He hit two grand slams in one inning, and on Thursday you can relive the historic game.

Could Magneuris Sierra Follow In Billy Hamilton's Fleet Footsteps?
As he legged, bunted and stole his way through the minors, Cincinnati speedster Billy Hamilton wanted to know the pitcher’s tendencies, the catcher’s arm, the lead he could take, everything he could about the 90-feet land grab he was about to make, and absolutely nothing whatsoever about the one thing he couldn’t outrun.

Series Preview: Cubs @ Cardinals April 2-5, 2017
The Cardinals will play their season opener at home for the first time since 2011. And they’ll be working on a five-game losing streak, having lost to San Diego in 2011, Pittsburgh in 2009, Colorado in 2008, New York in 2007 and Milwaukee in 2006, meaning they never have won a season opener at Busch Stadium III, which opened in 2006.

Scouting The Scouting Directors, Part Two
In Part 1 yesterday, I didn’t mention the work of scouting directors with three years or fewer on the job. That’s because directors with such limited work are prone to wild swings and outrageous bWAR+ figures based on a single player. One way to remedy this is to look at individual drafts. Let’s look at the top individual drafts now. (Since most recent draftees haven’t even started their major league careers, these data will exclude drafts from 2009 and later.) Here are the 10 best using those criteria. This is for total talent drafted (signed and unsigned), relative to league:

Hit King Pete Rose Inducted Into Reds Hall Of Fame
Pete Rose, his gaze locked on the near sellout crowd that had packed Great American Ball Park on Saturday afternoon, appeared both happy and, for brief moments, overwhelmed, during the induction ceremony that made him the newest member of the Reds Hall of Fame.

Mitch Harris Wins 2015 Tony Conigliaro Award
Mitch Harris - an officer, gentleman, and big league baseball player - has been voted the winner of the 26th annual Tony Conigliaro Award. The award, begun in 1990 by the late Red Sox publicist and team historian Dick Bresciani to honor native son Conigliaro, is presented to a major league player who, in Bresciani's words, "has overcome adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination and courage that were trademarks of Tony C.''

At exactly the same time as Billy Hamilton was breaking one of Eric Davis' Reds franchise records -- most stolen bases (42 in 1986) by the All-Star break -- Davis was still having an impact right before a Midsummer Classic.

Eric Davis Enjoys Being Jack-Of-All-Trades For Reds
Former Reds outfielding great Eric Davis has been a longtime special assistant to the general manager for the organization. At face value, Davis' title is one that covers a lot, but it explains little. Like in any organization, and depending on the person, it can mean almost anything.

Groundhog Day: Eric Davis Recalls Career-Altering Dive
When the underdog Reds completed a stunning four-game sweep of the heavily favored A's in the World Series on Oct. 20, 1990, it was a euphoric day for the team and the fans. It was also the last time the city of Cincinnati celebrated a major sports championship of any type.
