Throughout their history the Chiefs have played 32 games (15–17 record) with two rain/snow outs on April 9. The Chiefs have played three April 9 double headers and four Opening Day games (1–3 record). Today should have been the fifth April 9 opener in team history, but that will have to wait for another day.

Cardinals Signed Akeem Bostick To Minors Deal & Invited Him & 31 Others To MLB Spring Camp

The Cardinals’ facility in Jupiter, Fla., will have a crowded clubhouse when Spring Training kicks off in a few weeks. Seventy-two players are on the Spring Training roster that the club announced Friday, including 32 non-roster invites.

The Cardinals had a logjam of outfielders. The relevant word there being "had." St. Louis dealt Jose Martinez and Randy Arozarena to the Rays on Jan. 9 and then lost Marcell Ozuna in free agency 12 days later when he signed a one-year deal with the Braves. The group on the grass beneath the Gateway Arch is looking a little less crowded these days, and it just so happens that the Cardinals boast a top prospect who is an outfielder. Brendan Donovan Named Uncle Ray's Midwest League Player Of The Month

Minor League Baseball and the Peoria Chiefs have announced that second baseman Brendan Donovan was named the Uncle Ray's Midwest League Player of the Month for July. Donovan joins former pitcher Tommy Parsons, now in Double-A Springfield, as Chiefs players to win the award this season as the hurler won the April award.
