As the afternoon turned into early evening on June 8, 2015, scouts for the Cardinals were excited as they gathered in a conference room at Busch Stadium. It’s the feeling they get every year as the amateur draft begins, the culmination of a year’s worth of work.

Your 2020(?) Memphis Redbirds
If the Memphis Redbirds play a 2020 season (granted, a tremendous if these days), it's bound to be successful. Sure to have moments we'll remember a generation from now. And almost certain to culminate with a playoff appearance. Why such optimism in such uncertain times? Well, the history books don't lie. And Memphis baseball loves the start of a new decade. Check this out:

When baseball halted spring training and delayed the start of the regular season a week ago, the Cardinals were in the process making cuts from their spring training roster. The uncertainty of the next 12 hours, let alone 24 or 48 hours put a pause on the transactions until the Cardinals received direction from Major League Baseball.

An old saying and one fresh quote have been bouncing around in my head as the Cardinals navigate some of spring training's annual hurdles.

Here Are The Cardinals' 2020 Top 30 Prospects
The Cardinals made one of the biggest offseason moves last year when they acquired six-time All-Star Paul Goldschmidt from the D-backs for a trio of young players. In the end, however, it was Cardinals’ contingent of homegrown talent that fueled the team to a National League Central title and the organization’s first postseason berth since 2015, as Jack Flaherty, Kolten Wong, Paul DeJong and Tommy Edman ultimately paced the team in Wins Above Replacement.

Harrison Bader Shows A Flair For Leadoff Spot; Max Schroick, Edmundo Sosa Shine Late Again; Daniel Ponce De Leon Dazzles
Harrison Bader didn’t bat leadoff much for the Cardinals last season, his .205 batting average and poor .650 OPS mitigating against that.

New Role, Same Goal: Rob Kaminsky Returns To Cardinals As Lefty Reliever; Carlos Martinez's Debut Set (Brett Cecil, Too); Coaches Get Title Upgrades; Extra Bases
It’s been nearly seven years since they drafted him 28th overall, and while he still raises that knuckle on his curveball to give it a “spike,” the beard is new, the role is new, and the arm feels as close to new as it has in a few years for lefty Rob Kaminsky.

Prospect Projections: NL Central Rookies
The Cardinals had a logjam of outfielders. The relevant word there being "had." St. Louis dealt Jose Martinez and Randy Arozarena to the Rays on Jan. 9 and then lost Marcell Ozuna in free agency 12 days later when he signed a one-year deal with the Braves. The group on the grass beneath the Gateway Arch is looking a little less crowded these days, and it just so happens that the Cardinals boast a top prospect who is an outfielder. Is the way officially clear for Dylan Carlson to spread his wings?
