Tagg Bozied bashed two homers Tuesday, a fitting start to a week in which he drove in at least one run in every game. He went yard again Wednesday, and he doubled and plated three runs Thursday. After a Saturday rainout, the 31-year-old Phillies farmhand homered again and doubled in Game 1 of a Sunday doubleheader, and he also doubled in Game 2. Over the course of the day, he totaled two RBIs and three runs scored, leading Reading to a split with Erie.

Blast From The Past: Tagg Bozied

To call Reading third baseman Tagg Bozied well-traveled would be selling him short. After getting picked in the third round of the 2001 draft by the Padres, negotiations stalled and Bozied ended up in the independent Northern League. Since then he has played in five different organizations and has even done a stint in Taiwan. Most of his recent experience has been in Triple-A, but back in Double-A, Bozied is feasting off Eastern League pitching. He is currently second in the league in slugging and third in OPS. His chance to play in the big leagues in rapidly dwindling and may have already passed. But that hasn't stopped him from becoming one of best offensive players in the Eastern League.

The Phillies signed Tagg Bozied today, MLBTR has learned. Bozied, 30, hit .288/.360/.447 in 240 plate appearances for the Pirates' Triple A club this year after starting the year in Taiwan. He mainly played first base and the outfield corners. Bozied hit .306/.382/.569 for the Marlins' Triple A club in '08.

The Cardinals jumped to a 4-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning against Suppan, who allowed only those four runs in 5 2/3 innings of work. The big blow belonged to Ryan, a .297 hitter entering the game who made the Brewers pay for an intentional walk two batters earlier to .219 hitter Joe Thurston by hitting a two-run double off the left-field wall. It was one of three Cardinals hits off Suppan in the inning.

The Cardinals don't mind a three-year guarantee, but they are balking at the $10 million-a- year figure they have been told Fuentes will want. The Angels don't seem as concerned about the amount but want to hold the line at two years. Detroit has interest, too, but Tigers officials say they have been given the impression they are no better than third on Fuentes' list of prospective teams.

Lost In Transactions 12/1-12/7/08

St. Louis Cardinals signed LHP Trever Miller on a one-year contract.
The Cardinals are looking to bolster their left-handed presence. While Miller isn't a shutdown lefty specialist, he has rattled off six solid years in a row.

St. Louis Cardinals acquired SS Khalil Greene from the San Diego Padres for RHP Mark Worrell and a player to be named later .
A salary dump if there ever was one. Sure, Worrell has the ability to become an excellent reliever, and we don't know the caliber of the player to be named later, but still... ouch. Greene, who certainly doesn't get on base, has a career .802 OPS on the road as compared to .682 at Petco Park. He is capable defensively and will give the Cardinals a deep lineup with nearly everyone a threat to hit a home run. The value on the Padres' side was clearing his salary as Greene is worth more in terms of the talent they got. He's a free agent after the year.
