Perplexed as to how he could feel so good while being hit so hard in Sunday’s 13-5 loss to the Cubs, Dominic Leone buried himself in video on Monday.

All that was missing was a pipe and magazine tucked under his arm as John Gant strolled through the St. Louis Cardinals clubhouse in his new bathrobe. Each reliever had one of the white, cotton robes which featured the embroidered birds on the bat and his name and number, courtesy of Dominic Leone.

When he saw the car bringing his younger brother home from the hospital Sunday, Bengie Molina expected to race out to help, maybe tug a wheelchair out of the back or lend Yadier Molina a shoulder. He had gone to Yadier’s house to be available, brother to brother, and because few could empathize with the injury, catcher to catcher.

Yadier Molina Exits Game After Getting Struck With A 101-MPH Foul Tip
The Cardinals lost three players to injuries during Saturday’s 8-6 win over the Cubs, including starting catcher Yadier Molina. Molina caught the first eight innings of the game before getting struck with a 101.5-MPH foul tip from Kris Bryant. The ball struck him in the lower abdomen/groin area, causing the catcher to double over and prompting an immediate visit from manager Mike Matheny and team trainers. He appears to be day-to-day for the time being, though the full extent of his injury has not been revealed.
