Southern Maryland Re-Signs Charlie Manning For 2014 Season

Building the Blue Crabs 2014 roster, manager, Lance Burkhart, announced on Tuesday the addition of three players to his squad. Joining the Blue Crabs for the 2014 campaign will be left-handed pitchers, Charlie Manning and Jake Brown. The club also announced the signing of infielder, Jesus Merchan. It will be Merchan and Browns’ first stint with the Blue Crabs. Manning will be entering his fourth season as a member of Crustacean Nation.

Southern Maryland Signs Charlie Manning

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs manager Patrick Osborn announced three additional signings to the 2013 roster today. Pitchers Eddie Morlan and Charlie Manning will again join the Blue Crabs, as well as newly acquired outfielder Sean Smith for the 2013 season.

Post-Season Possibilites For The Memphis Redbirds

More than fireworks were launched at AutoZone Park on July 4th. In edging the Round Rock Express, 3-2 in 11 innings, the Memphis Redbirds began a four-game winning streak and the best month the team has seen in years. Entering that night’s game, the Redbirds had a record of 37-43 and were eight games behind the Nashville Sounds in their division of the Pacific Coast League. Since then (through Sunday), the team has gone 24-11. A five-game winning streak pushed the Redbirds into first place on August 3rd, the latest they’ve occupied the top spot in a season since 2002. A victory over Colorado Springs Sunday again leapfrogged the ’Birds ahead of Nashville.
