There were two runners on base when Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel came to the plate in the seventh winning Wednesday. Gurriel had already tied a franchise record by driving in eight runs and there wasn’t a person at Minute Maid Park that didn’t think he was about to break it.

J.R. Towles Working Hard To Make Stay With Bridgeport A Short One
J.R. Towles has seen from afar that numerous players have been signed by major league organizations out of the independent Atlantic League. Those players include Lew Ford, Wily Mo Pena, Curtis Pride and Jerome Williams, all who returned to the big leagues following a stint in the Atlantic League.

Bridgeport Signs J.R. Towles For 2014 Season
The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signing of catcher J.R. Towles. Towles joins the Bluefish for his first season in the Atlantic League and 11th of professional baseball.

Hours after team physician George Paletta performed surgery on Jaime Garcia's left shoulder on Friday, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said the organization is optimistic that Garcia will enjoy a full recovery by the start of the 2014 season.
