Javier Machuca (former GCL-Penuelas) started and pitched 3.2 innings.  He allowed four hits, four earned runs, three walks, and struck two out.

Ivan Maldonado (former MiLB tryout-Dorado) started and pitched six innings.  He allowed six hits, no runs, one walk, and struck five out.

It's hard to know the origin of this game. It certainly pre-dates my nine years at spring training, but certainly doesn't stretch back to Red Schoendienst's 68 or so. It seems like a rather modern fallout from the longer bus rides and more conservative schedules and bigger contracts that convey veteran status.
