Fernando Diaz (Blue) will look to extend his six-game hitting streak in the next week.  The 17-year old left-handed hitter went 6-for-12 (.500) with one home run, three RBIs (one w/two-outs), two runs, two walks, one sac fly, and five strikeouts.  He played all four games at first base where he assisted in two double plays and committed one fielding error.  The March 26, 2019 free agent signing has gone 10-for-19 (.526) and collected multiple hits in four of his last six games played.

Luis Garcia (Red) has not allowed a run in three consecutive appearances and no earned run in four.  The 18-year old right-hander was called from the pen on July 30th and allowed two hits, no runs, and one walk.  Then on August 3rd, he tossed two scoreless innings only giving up one hit.  He had a combined ground out-to-fly out ratio of 3-to-3.  The November 29, 2018 free agent signing had a 2.57 ERA and struck out 12 over 14 innings during the month of July.

Darlin Moquete (Blue) has reached base safely in 22 straight games and has a 14-game hitting streak.  The 19-year old right-handed hitter went 6-for-19 (.316) with one double, one triple, six RBIs (five w/two-outs), two runs, one sac fly, one stolen base, and two strikeouts.  He played three games in left field (two outfield assists and assisted in one double play), one in right field, and split one in center and left.  The April 21, 2018 free agent signing leads the team in AVG, SLG, OPS, triples, and stolen bases.

Wilmer Ortega (Blue) had another quality start on the season.  The 18-year old right-hander opened on August 1st and threw six innings, allowing eight hits, one earned run, hit one batter, threw one wild pitch, and struck three out.  He had a ground out-to-fly out ratio of 5-to-5.  The April 17, 2019 free agent signing has given up one or less runs in five of nine starts he has made this summer.

The Cardinals Red blew the first four games of the week and ended on a one-game winning streak.  The club is 9-16 and are eight games out of first place for seven in the San Pedro Division.  They are 5-8 defending home field and 4-8 away.

Week In Review:

June 24, 2019: The Cardinals Blue opened the week on the road against the Angels.  Reinys Portillo threw a strong start going six innings and allowing only one run.  The Redbirds offense was a little slow to get going but exploded in the fourth all the way to the end.  The Cardinals scored two or more runs in five frames taking the contest 14-1.  Gustavo A. Rodriguez led the offense with a single, homer, and four RBIs.
