The Four Things The Cardinals Must Do To Break Out Of Their Horrible Slump

It feels like a lifetime ago that the St. Louis Cardinals rolled into Wrigley Field with the best record in baseball, ready to do battle with the Cubs for NL Central supremacy. That was a mere two weeks ago. The Cubs swept that series by the combined score of 23-10 and sent the Cardinals into a tailspin. Thursday's loss (ATL 10, STL 2) was the 10th in the last 13 games for St. Louis.

Let's Find A Trade for Jose Martinez

I just love Jose Martinez. The dude’s smile is infectious and you can tell that he truly loves the game of baseball. And he can really hit. He is as much a “pulled himself up by his own bootstraps” guy as there is in the major leagues.

Cardinals Have Shown Past Interest In Jose Abreu; Zach Britton Being Heavily Scouted By Teams; Rangers Ready To Move Adrian Beltre

There are a few White Sox staffers who feel Jose Abreu will be moved by the trade deadline. Abreu has been a consistent 30/100 player and this year is shaping up no different. The White Sox have always asked a lot for the righthanded slugger. Teams that have shown past interest include the Cardinals, Dodgers, Astros, and Rockies. He seems to be a perfect fit for the Astros.

Lance Lynn's Solid Effort Erased By Overtaxed Bullpen

Lance Lynn continued his recent streak of strong starts with a solid six-inning performance, but the Twins found themselves in a familiar situation, seeing the overworked bullpen giving up a late lead in yet another frustrating loss.

Cardinals Have Pieces To Pull Of Trade For Manny Machado, Josh Donaldson, Or Mike Moustakas; Red Sox Interested In Kelvin Herrera

The Cardinals keep things close to the vest, but it’s clear they need third base help and an impact hitter. They have the pieces to get Machado, Donaldson or Moustakas, and if I had to venture a guess, they’ll get one of them by the end of July.

John Mozeliak & Cardinals Doubling Down On Pitching Youth

The Cardinals have money, but are picky in how they spend it. You don't have to love it, but you should respect and understand it. I would have liked Lynn and Reed, but the Cardinals are banking on Weaver, Flaherty, and Hicks.
