Ex-Cardinals Watch 6-24-08: Tavarez A Free Agent, Brown & Rolen Homer, Moyer Takes Loss, Herr Traded
Julian Tavarez(Free Agent):
Right-hander Julian Tavarez surprised the Brewers on Tuesday when he rejected an outright assignment to the Minor Leagues and prompted the team to release him.
Tavarez Elects Free Agency
Emil Brown(Athletics):
To borrow a phrase from A's manager Bob Geren, there were many positives to the game.
Brown's HomerLifts Blanton, Athletics
Scott Rolen(Blue Jays):
The chants started quietly enough during the fifth inning on Tuesday night, but as more and more Blue Jays fans joined in, celebrating the return of Cito Gaston, Rogers Centre began to roar with a loud rhythmic cry of the manager's name.
Jays Come Out Swinging In Cito's Return
Jaime Moyer(Phillies):
Chase Utley and Pat Burrell stared at video screens, replaying at-bats from another listless effort. This one resulted in a 5-2 Phillies loss to Oakland that extended a losing streak to six games.
Phillies Fall To A's For Six Straight Losses
Aaron Herr(Reds):
Was traded from Buffalo(Indians Triple-A).
