Beltran, who played with the Cardinals, Mets, Rockies and Expos in his four-year Major League career, wants to see plenty of ground balls coming off of the bats of Southern League foes.

"One of the things that I'm teaching to them a lot is that we're going to become ground ball pitchers," Beltran said. "When you become a ground ball pitcher, you're going after the strike zone with every pitch. I don't want them nitpicking. I want them to attack the bottom of the strike zone with every pitch."
