The Cardinals intend to push former starting pitcher Carlos Martinez into longer relief appearances in the coming days and that could mean seeing him sooner than advertised.

Yairo Munoz started in centerfield and batted leadoff.  2-for-5 with one double, one run, and two strikeouts.
Paul Goldschmidt started at first base and batted second.  2-for-5 with one home run, two RBIs, one run, and assisted in one double play.
Paul DeJong started at shortstop and batted third.  0-for-3 with two runs and two walks.
Jose Martinez started in right field and batted fourth.  3-for-5 with one home run, two two-out RBIs, and two runs.
Jedd Gyroko started at third base and batted seventh.  2-for-5 with one two-out RBI and assisted in one double play.
Matt Carpenter entered late in the game as a pinch hitter and batted ninth.  One walk at the plate.
Luke Gregerson entered in the ninth and pitched one inning.  He alloweed no hits or runs, and one walk.  (p-s:14-9)(g/f:1-0)

Rough Outing:
Marcell Ozuna started in left field and batted fourth.  0-for-5 with two strikeouts.
Dakota Hudson started and pitched six innings.  He allowed nine hits, three earned runs, two walks, hit one batter, and struck two out.  1-for-2 with one hit by pitch and one strikeout.  (p-s:84-61)(g/f:10-3)
Tyler Webb entered in the seventh and pitched to two batters.  He allowed no hits, two earned runs, one walk, and hit one batter.  (p-s:8-2)
John Brebbia entered in the seventh and pitched one inning.  He allowed three hits, three earned runs, one home run, one walk, and struck two out for the blown save (1) and losing decision (1-2).  (p-s:30-17)(g/f:1-0)(ir-s:2-2)
Giovanny Gallegos entered in the eighth and pitched one inning.  He allowed two hits, two earned runs, one intentional walk, threw one wild pitch, and struck two out.  (p-s:27-16)(g/f:1-0)

Cardinals Homestand Highlights May 6-12, 2019

The Cardinals look to improve upon their MLB-best 12-4 home record when they return to Busch Stadium next week. The seven-game homestand opens with three games against the Philadelphia Phillies (May 6-8) and concludes with a four-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates (May 9-12). The third homestand of the year is highlighted by Mother’s Day and Cancer Awareness Theme Night.
