In assessing Joe McEwing’s value to the club as a utility player, the Cardinals placed a premium on productivity instead of popularity.

Ken Rosenthal On The Bernie Miklasz Show 8-4-10
Bernie welcomes Fox Baseball Analyst Ken Rosenthal to the show. Rosenthal admits there will be players available for the Cardinals, but impact and price will be two worries on picking someone up. Ken also gives his opinion on Ty Wigginton getting through waivers. Bernie and Ken also discuss the Jake Westbrook and Ryan Ludwick trade and if overall it was a good trade for the Cardinals. Bernie and Ken also wonder how the Cardinals will score runs after the departure of Ludwick. Ken also admits, that he wouldn't be surprised if Reds GM Walt Jocketty would do something before the end of the season and he believes the Reds need to do something because there still not quite there. Ken also says that the trade of Ryan Ludwick had nothing to do with Albert Pujols becoming a free agent after the 2011 season.
Bernie Bytes 8-4-10: Play Allen Craig At 3B
Life after David Freese won't be easy. The Cardinals have limited options at 3B. They can keep running Felipe Lopez out there, and he'll do the best he can, but he isn't a natural 3B.
Central Concern & The Hot (Potato) Corner

3B Could Be David Freese's Job, Again
With the signing of veteran infielder Miguel Tejada by Baltimore, it appears more and more likely that St. Louisan David Freese will get the first shot this spring at the Cardinals’ third-base job. But that isn’t altogether different from last year when Freese was in line to replace veteran Troy Glaus, who had off-season shoulder surgery, for at least the first month of the season.

Writers Wrong For Hall Vote
I showed off the first Hall of Fame ballot I received after it landed in the mailbox a few years ago. It felt like some artifact from another universe had been sent in the mail to me, and I treated it like a moon rock.
