Wednesday’s injury report for the Cardinals was mostly positive for Andrew Miller and Paul Goldschmidt, but decidedly negative for star-crossed lefthanded reliever Brett Cecil.

Brett Cecil Set To Undergo Tests On Right Hamstring
Brett Cecil, sidelined for most of the three years he’s been with the Cardinals, left Wednesday’s 7-3 loss to the Mets in the sixth inning with a right hamstring strain and he will undergo testing Thursday morning to determine the severity of the injury.

Paul Goldschmidt's Elbow; Andrew Miller Encouraged By Strong Bullpen; Around The Horn; Up Next
Paul Goldschmidt was held out of the lineup on Wednesday against the Mets due to right elbow soreness, the same discomfort that the Cardinals first baseman dealt with at the beginning of Grapefruit League games. After skipping the Cardinals’ two-day trip to the other side of the state, it will be Goldschmidt’s third straight day missing games.

By the end of last season, Luke Weaver says, opposing hitters began to figure him out. Few starting pitchers were more spin-averse than the 23-year-old righty, who navigated most of the 60 1/3-innings of his rookie season with just two distinct pitches, adding and subtracting from them all the way.
