Memphis managed to steal the win going extra innings tonight against the Omaha Storm Chasers as the 'Birds bounced back from last night defeat to take it in the fourteenth inning 6-5 to even the series 1-1.
A leadoff single to centerfield in the first inning by the Redbirds’ Adron Chambers quickly put to rest Tuesday night any hopes of Omaha tossing back-to-back no-hitters.

Memphis Unable To Catch Round Rock
The 'Birds tried to play catch up tonight but did not succeed as Round Rock Express took four of the five games this series, the final game ending 8-5 after the 'Birds were down from the start and couldn't break from behind.

Outfielder Allen Craig is about two weeks away from coming back to the Majors, manager Tony La Russa said Friday. Craig is currently working out with Triple-A Memphis, but he has not yet begun playing games.

Round Rock Clips Memphis 5-4
Pedro Strop struck out Andrew Brown with runners at second and third to preserve a 5-4 victory for the Round Rock Express over the Memphis Redbirds in Saturday night's Pacific Coast League action at The Dell Diamond. The Express (52-37) improved to 12-2 at home since June 18 and knotted the season series against the Redbirds (47-42) at three games apiece.

The Cardinals made a pair of moves on Thursday, one long expected and one necessitated at the last minute.
Fearful of being short on fresh arms in the bullpen tonight, the Cardinals optioned rookie righthander Brandon Dickson to Memphis and called up righthander P.J. Walters from the Triple-A club, GM John Mozeliak said on WXOS (101.1 FM) this afternoon.
With most of their bullpen unavailable Thursday following a taxing 13-inning loss Wednesday night, the Cardinals purchased the contract of right-hander P.J. Walters from Memphis and added him to the big league roster.

Iowa Wins Third Straight Over Memphis, 5-3
Bryan LaHair and Welington Castillo connected on back-to-back home runs which proved to be the difference for the Iowa Cubs (34-42) in a 5-3 victory over the Memphis Redbirds (39-36) Friday night. The Cubs took the series 3-2 over the Redbirds. A crowd of 13,549 was on hand for the series finale, a new high for the season and ninth all-time on the Iowa attendance list.
