Memphis Splits Doubleheader With Round Rock
The 'Birds split their first home doubleheader against Round Rock Express as the bats finally came alive in the second game for the win 4-1, after losing the first game 6-3.
The Redbirds returned home from the Triple-A All-Star break Thursday just a game and a half behind Omaha in the Pacific Coast League's American Northern Division, a division they've won the last two seasons.

Iowa Wins Third Straight Over Memphis, 5-3
Bryan LaHair and Welington Castillo connected on back-to-back home runs which proved to be the difference for the Iowa Cubs (34-42) in a 5-3 victory over the Memphis Redbirds (39-36) Friday night. The Cubs took the series 3-2 over the Redbirds. A crowd of 13,549 was on hand for the series finale, a new high for the season and ninth all-time on the Iowa attendance list.

Cardinals, Royals Welcome Joplin High Players; Maikel Cleto, Pete Kozma Added To Cardinals Roster; Seeking Jolt, Tony LaRussa Bats Jake Westbrook 8th
The Cardinals and Royals continued their "Teams Unite for Joplin" initiatives on Saturday as players from both clubs took batting practice wearing Joplin High School baseball caps. Joplin High was destroyed in the May 22 E5 tornado.
Looking for anything that might help them end their current seven-game losing streak, the Cardinals made changes to both the lineup and the roster before Saturday's game against the Kansas City Royals.

As the St. Louis Cardinals officials headed into the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, several important needs of the organization did not appear to be a secret. After all, the primary benefit of the minor league system is to feed the major league club with the draft being the key element to replenish that pipeline.
