As Billy Beane recently told Joel Sherman of The New York Post, “there is no such thing as a definitive ‘no’ in Oakland,” but I don’t see Lowrie being moved. The prospect of picking up Kolten Wong from the Cardinals is enticing (if St. Louis would part with him), but Lowrie was just too vital to the A’s success in repeating as back-to-back AL West Division Champions. Given that the A’s are in a great position to repeat for a third straight season, and a lack of a current player on the roster being able to step-up and match Lowrie’s production, he’ll be back at short-stop next season (at least until Addison Russell proves he is worthy of the full-time gig).
