At around 10:30 a.m. Monday, Yoenis Céspedes emerged from the Mets' clubhouse to participate in stretches with the team. Fifteen minutes later, he ducked behind the batting cage alone, only to resurface on a back field later in the morning. Céspedes signed autographs and posed for selfies for a long while, then took live batting practice against pitcher Michael Wacha. On one of his first swings, he lost his grip on his bat, launching it over the third-base dugout. On another, he pulled a would-be home run just foul.

Jed Lowrie, In Leg Brace, Non-Committal About 2020
Almost a year to the day after initially feeling soreness in the back of his left knee, Jed Lowrie reported to Mets camp Sunday wearing a bulky brace that ran nearly two feet from his left ankle up to his mid-thigh. He fielded ground balls and made a few throws at second base before leaving to prepare for New York’s first day of full-squad workouts Monday.

Jed Lowrie Focused On Entering Offseason Healthy
Entering the final days of the 2019 season, Jed Lowrie, despite being active for most of September, has yet to play an inning in the field. He isn’t sure if that will change this weekend against the Braves. In his eyes, he doesn’t “think it really would prove anything one way or the other.”

Todd Frazier Out Indefinitely With Oblique Injury
Todd Frazier was visibly upset as he left the Mets' clubhouse on Tuesday, bound for New York and another doctor's office. The knowledge was still fresh that Frazier had sustained a left oblique strain during batting practice the day before, depleting the Mets' infield depth and putting Opening Day in jeopardy.

Marwin Gonzalez & The Flattening Of Player Valuation
Everyone remembers the first sign of labor trouble. No, no, it wasn’t Bryce Harper or Manny Machado, nor was it JD Martinez a season ago. In fact the first sign that there was divergence between how front offices perceived a player and how players themselves (and agents) valued themselves was actually during the 2013-14 offseason, during the fiasco involving Stephen Drew and Kendrys Morales.

'I Feel Like I'm 25': Robinson Cano Joins Mets Camp
The most pressing question surrounding Robinson Cano, entering his first season with the Mets at age 36, is what kind of player he can be in his late 30s. In his 20s, he was a phenom, batting .308 with a .503 slugging percentage for the Yankees. Since then, he has fallen off only slightly, making four of his eight career All-Star Game appearances after his 30th birthday.
