Cardinals Release 14 Minor Leaguers

A favorite of those looking for late-round steals or pitchers who pitch beyond a pigeonhole, St. Louis Cardinals farmhand Trey Hearne stalled at Class AA Springfield and was among 14 minor leaguers released this week by the parent club.
The St. Louis Cardinals have released 14 minor league players, from Memphis to the Gulf Coast League. The group includes a 2010 All-Star and a former #15 organizational prospect.

Substitues At The Hot Corner

After a successful season that launched him high into the prospect mix, St. Louis Cardinals minor-league third basemann Matt Carpenter returned home to the Dallas area, where he'll spend the winter reporting to whatever school that needs him -- as a substitute.

Behind Kevin Siegrist, Johnson City won its first championship in 34 years. Palm Beach was eliminated and Memphis and Springfield could not clinch. Playoff-bound Quad Cities and Batavia both lost on a 3-3 Saturday across the system.

The Cardinals farm system went 4-4 on Thursday as Matt Carpenter, Nick Additon, Rich Racobaldo, Brett Zawacki, Robert Stock, Rainel Rosario, Dean Kiekhefer, Pat Biserta, Reggie Williams, Boone Whiting, Corderious Dodd, Amaury Castillo, David Washington, Manuel De La Cruz, and Ricky Martinez starred.

The Cardinals farm system went 2-4 on Wednesday as Nick Stavinoha, Joe Mather, Ruben Gotay, Bryan Anderson, Chris Swauger, D'Marcus Ingram, Rich Racobaldo, Devin Goodwin, Matt Adams, Edgar Lara, Frederick Parejo, Rainel Rosario, LaCurtis Mayes, and Willy Paulino starred.

Daytona Blasts Palm Beach 7-5

The Daytona Cubs (55-46, 21-10) beat the Palm Beach Cardinals (55-45, 16-14) 7-5 in Tuesday night's series opener. Brooks Raley (6-6) worked into seventh inning to pick up the victory. The D-Cubs well-rounded offensive unit attacked early and rallied late.

Arquimedes Nieto Throws A Gem To Lead Palm Beach Over St. Lucie

The Palm Beach Cardinals (36-28) pounded the St. Lucie Mets (30-33) tonight at Roger Dean Stadium by a score of 6-2. Charlie Cutler broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning with a two out, two-RBI single off of Kyle Allen (5-4) to give the Cardinals a 4-2 lead. Richard Racobaldo would follow with an RBI single of his own in the following at bat.

Mark Diapoules Solid In Palm Beach Victory

The Palm Beach Cardinals (26-22) beat the Lakeland Flying Tigers (29-20) tonight at Roger Dean Stadium by a score of 6-3. Mark Diapoules (4-0) allowed three runs on six hits and struck out a season-high nine batters to lead the Cardinals. It was the right-hander's first win since May 3rd and longest outing of the season.
