I’ve repeatedly expressed my concerns about the strength and depth of the Cardinals’ starting rotation for 2018. The word I keep coming back to is “vulnerable.”

First Big League Win 'Indescribable' For Luke Weaver
After two weeks of occupying a spot on the Cardinals' roster, Luke Weaver finally got his chance on Friday to impress the home crowd. And quite the impression did he make

Luke Weaver took to the mound for the first time ever at Busch Stadium Friday night and if the 23-year-old was nervous you needed a microscope to see it.

The Cardinals Should Consider Andrew Miller
The 2016 Cardinals lost yet another game last night due to their bullpen being unable to protect a lead. This has become an unfortunate theme 84 games into the season. Sure, the offense squandered some chances to score more than five runs, but five runs should be enough to win the game. More important than the game outcome, though, the Cardinals potentially lost Matt Carpenter for an extended period of time, and should this be the case, there is no way a trade for the pitcher named in the title of this post will occur.

Seung-Hwan Oh Throws First Time, Complete With Curious Changeup
More than just the language being thrown at him was foreign to catcher Eric Fryer on Tuesday. So when he settled behind the plate to catch Seung Hwan Oh’s first bullpen session as a member of the Cardinals, he took the same approach he would for any pitcher or pitches he’s seeing for the first time.

Jon Jay Firms Up Spot On Cardinals' Perch
Last spring, Jon Jay faced the tough task of fending off Peter Bourjos for the Cardinals’ starting center-fielder gig. This year will present a different challenge: fending off teammates who expect him to pick up the check with increased regularity in Jupiter.

Salute To John Smoltz
Blessed with a left arm that launched baseballs like a Howitzer, not to mention the 6-foot-10 frame, Randy Johnson carved out a reputation as one of the most intimidating hurlers ever. Pedro Martinez parlayed a plethora of preposterous pitches into arguably the finest two-season stretch in the modern era. John Smoltz, for his part, simply sucked out the marrow out of October.
