There's one name missing from this year's HOF ballot, and it's one of the best pitchers of the 2000s.

World Series History Is Not On Cubs' Side
On one hand, the Chicago Cubs are due not only to make the World Series but to win it. The number of years since they achieved the first is 71. The second number is 108 and counting.

Cardinals Should Re-Sign Jason Heyward
Would you be OK if the Cardinals’ highest-paid hitter doesn’t lead the team in home runs and RBIs? Or possibly doesn’t even come in second in those categories?

Cardinals Pitching Is On Historic Pace
The Cardinals are on pace to have the single greatest earned run prevention season of the last 100 years. There's plenty of qualifiers to that and reasons why it's not likely to keep up over the course of the entire year, but over the first three months, that's a cold hard fact. They're preventing runs in a way no one alive has ever really seen before -- and they're doing it without ace Adam Wainwright, who injured his Achilles tendon in just his fourth start of the season.

Deep Time Baseball Venues In St. Louis
The collective memory of the Cardinal Nation only goes back so far. If all you know is what you hear and read in the normal course of being a fan, recorded baseball history started at Sportsman’s Park in the 20’s. Everything before that has mostly faded into the mist. But consider that, at the time, St. Louis fans supported two Major League teams, and had for some time. So where did they come from? Let’s have a look at the ooze which gave life to the primordial fans.

The Hall Of wWAR: Pitchers
It's here! The last installment of Hall of wWAR series. The conversion from the Hall of Fame to the Hall of wWAR involved kicking 66 of the 206 members of the Hall of Fame out and replacing them with new, more deserving players. That means 32.0% of this new Hall is not in the old one. 19 of the 66 newcomers (28.8%) are pitchers.

Yesterday, I posted rankings of all Hall of Fame position players by Weighted WAR (wWAR), with this year's Hall of Fame ballot mixed in for some perspective. Wait, what's wWAR again?

What's In A Name? For Coco Crisp, Everything
The name is one of the best in the game. Maybe it doesn't have the power of Babe Ruth or the descriptiveness of Three Finger Brown or the cool of Cool Papa Bell.

Mordecai Brown: The Spectacular Story Of "Three Finger" Brown
Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown is one of the best pitchers of all time. Born on a farm on Oct. 7, 1876, Brown had a lot to overcome to become a major league pitcher—he lost a finger at the age of seven to a corn-shredder.
