RF/1B Phil Cerreto is Player of the Week for the second week in a row. Cerreto ranks second in the Appalachian League in RBIs (29), batting average (.388), on-base percentage (.422), slugging percentage (.709), and on-base plus slugging percentage (1.131).

Placido Polanco Steps Up With Clutch Hit In Extras
Jimmy Rollins flied out to center field to move Valdez to third and Placido Polanco came through with a clutch two-out single to center to give the Phillies a one-run lead. Jayson Werth followed with a double to center to give Phillies closer Brad Lidge, who blew a save Saturday, a two-run cushion.

The Top 10 Deadline Storylines
7. The Cardinals now have a postseason rotation with the addition of Jake Westbrook, who should be perfect for Dave Duncan. They get Kyle Lohse back soon, so with Adam Wainwright, Chris Carpenter and Jaime Garcia they are primed for the race with Cincinnati, and on further, as far as the bullpen holds. A key here is the development of Jon Jay, who freed up Ludwick.

Jim Edmonds, OF, Brewers — The Brewers received inquiries from a few teams about inserting him into a pennant race despite a sore Achilles’, but Edmonds decided he wanted to stay in Milwaukee. It appears Edmonds could retire after this season because of the injury, but he still hasn’t made that decision. Edmonds has done a nice job for the Brewers and they’d love to have him come back if he’s able.
