Springfield Cardinals Stumble Again, Lose 8-4

After losing three straight, the Cardinals looked to Gary Daley to try and get Springfield back in the win column. Tulsa had other plans; however, as they scored four times in the first inning without recording an out. Anthony Jackson led off with a walk, Daniel Mayora then collected an RBI double before Scott Beerer, Ryan Harvey, Kenny Perez and Kiel Roling all singled to make the score 4-0. Daley would get a fly ball double play and a strike out to finally get out of the inning.

Gary Daley lasted only 2 2/3 innings, and a pair of Curt Smith two-run home runs and taxed bullpen were not enough to rescue the right-hander — or the Springfield Cardinals, for that matter — in an 8-4 loss to the Tulsa Drillers on Sunday at Hammons Field.
