Ex-Cardinals Watch 5-28-09: Ryan Dixon Released; Scott Vander Weg & Miguel Negron Hit D.L.; Mike Schellinger Activated; Dan Haren Another Great Start

Dan Haren (Diamondbacks):
Dan Haren proved to be quite the cure for a tired bullpen Thursday night.

The D-backs right-hander was outstanding through eight innings in Arizona's 5-2 win over the Braves at Chase Field.

Felipe Lopez (Diamondbacks):
The Felipe Lopez Watch continues. Hinch said that the second baseman, who felt tightness in his left hamstring last Saturday night in Oakland, may run the bases Friday afternoon, but it sounds like he will not be back in the lineup until Saturday, at the earliest. "The day that he feels he can go out and get five at-bats and play second base for nine-plus innings, he'll be back in there," Hinch said

Edgar Renteria (Giants):
Whether they're aware of it or not, some Giants players grade out quite well on these new scales. Second baseman Emmanuel Burriss, shortstop Edgar Renteria and left fielder Fred Lewis are all among the top four at their positions in National League ZR, while Ishikawa is best among first basemen. Catcher Bengie Molina, who like Renteria won two Gold Glove Awards from 2002-03, is eighth among backstops. Randy Winn is 10th in ZR, but moves up to first among NL right fielders in Revised Zone Rating, which calculates differently balls fielded outside of a player's zone.
