Russ Springer (Athletics):
Right-handed setup men Russ Springer, 40, and Michael Wuertz, 30, have been among the American League's 10 busiest relievers, and the workload seems to suit them.
Heading into the finale of a two-game series against the visiting Royals on Wednesday, Springer has a 2.57 ERA in 15 appearances, while Wuertz has a 1.53 ERA -- and two saves in two chances -- over 16 outings.
Right-handed hitters are batting .179 against Springer, who was signed as a free agent. Wuertz, acquired in a trade with the Cubs, has held opponents -- righties and lefties -- to a .179 average, in addition to picking up a pair of wins.
