The Cardinals recalled right-hander Brad Thompson from Triple-A Memphis on Monday, reinstating Thompson as their long reliever and optioning righty P.J. Walters back to Triple-A.

Righthander Brad Thompson, who started the season with the St. Louis Cardinals, was recalled from Class AAA Memphis before tonight’s game with Philadelphia here and P.J. Walters was sent down to Memphis.
