Tyler Lavigne Named Frontier League Pitcher Of The Week

Infielder Mike Schwartz of the Normal Cornbelters and Tyler Lavigne of the Southern Illinois Miners have been selected as the Frontier League Player of the Week and Pitcher of the week respectively, as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation.

Washington Signs C.J. Beatty To Extension, River City Extends Tyler Lavigne

Normal Trades Tyler Lavigne To River City

The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, have traded the playing rights of right handed pitcher Tyler Lavigne to the River City Rascals in exchange the CornBelters have assumed the 2014 contract of right handed pitcher Corey MacDonald. The CornBelters will play their first regular season home game of the 2014 season ("CEFCU Opening Night") at The Corn Crib on Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. versus the Evansville Otters.

June leftovers: Marcos Chavez was signed and released by the Tijuanna Cimarrones (June 18-26) of the Golden Baseball League. Reynier Gonzalez was released by the Tijuanna Cimarrones (Mayy 22-June 4).

July 8: The Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League signed Javier Colina to a contract for the 2010 season.

July 8: The Newark Bears of the Atlantic League signed Pablo Ozuna to a contract for the 2010 season.

July 8: The Newark Bears of the Atlantic League placed Scott Spiezio on the disabled list.

July 11: The Rio Grande Valley White Wings of the United League Baseball signed Juan Cabrera to a contract for the 2010 season.

July 12: The Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League released Bill Pulsipher.

Tyler Lavigne Named To 2010 Frontier League All-Star Team

Normal’s Tyler Lavigne headlines the West pitching staff with his League-leading seven wins and 1.53 ERA. Fellow starting pitchers Joe Augustine (Southern Illinois, 6-0, 2.28 ERA) and Mark Brackman (Gateway, 3-4, 3.94) join relievers Jason Lowey (River City, 12 saves, 3.00 ERA, third All-Star selection), Jake McMurran (Southern Illinois, 3-0, three saves, 0.61 ERA), Mike Damchuk (Southern Illinois, 4-1, six saves, 0.70 ERA), Nick Sottung (Evansville Otters, 3-1, three saves, 2.51 ERA), and Liam Olhmann (Florence, 2.38 ERA in 25 appearances.
