The RedHawks sold the contract of pitcher Grant Black to the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday. The Newport, Ark. native previously played for the Gateway Grizzlies in the Frontier League before joining the RedHawks organization this offseason.

A Major League Baseball proposal would drastically alter the landscape of minor league baseball, severing the major-league affiliations of 42 teams in the lower levels of the minors. Some of those teams have been part of their communities for generations, like the Chattanooga Lookouts, whose roots date to 1885; some are playing in stadiums built as recently as 2008, when the Billings Mustangs’ Dehler Park opened.

Tommy Edman Finds A Perch With The Cardinals

The State College Spikes ended their 2019 season with an anti-climactic final weekend, finishing three games over .500 and missing out on the New York-Penn League playoffs. External factors added to the ho-hum ending as the Spikes were overshadowed by Penn State’s 79-7 football win over Idaho and overshowered by a rainstorm that produced the ultimate downer—a season-ending tie.
