Austin Gomber's No-Hitter Broken Up By Fire Alarm, Joey Votto
For the second night in a row, a Cardinals debutante starter took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. But this time, the Cincinnati Reds’ ballpark was ready to shut that shit down. Following up on Daniel Poncedeleon’s wonderful seven innings of no-hit ball in his debut on Monday, Austin Gomber threw himself six straight innings in his first career start with only two walks and zero hits allowed. Then, before the bottom of the seventh, some Ohio asshole triggered the air raid sirens:

Carlos Martinez On Track For Monday Return From Disabled List; Daniel Poncedeleon Optioned After Stellar Debut; Harrison Bader Earns Honor
When a mild oblique strain sidelined Carlos Martinez last weekend in Chicago, the Cardinals were hopeful the righty's disabled list stint would be a short one. That hope inched closer to reality on Tuesday, when Martinez tested the injury in a flat-ground session on the outfield grass at Great American Ball Park.

Thoughts On Daniel Poncedeleon
On Monday the St. Louis Cardinals sent right-hander Daniel Poncedeleon to the mound for his major league debut against the Cincinnati Reds. To say it went well is an understatement: he threw seven hitless innings until being removed for pitch count reasons, giving up three walks and striking out three. He’s been on quite a roll lately, having given up just one hit in nine innings in his last Triple-A start for Memphis back on July 15th.
