Eric Duncan Looked Like Sure Thing, But Wasn't
After 10 years and nearly 4,000 minor-league at-bats, the man who might have been playing third base for the Yankees was instead reading through an English syllabus. It outlined a semester of scheduled readings, told him when he'd take a midterm and set a date for his final exam. Eric Duncan saw it as a gift. Or maybe it was more like a promise.

NW Arkansas Outlasts Springfield 7-5
The Cardinals had a chance to take three of four from Northwest Arkansas in the series finale Sunday night. A victory would mean back to back series wins for the first time since the end of May.

Springfield Hammers Midland 13-3
The last regular season match up between the Cardinals and the RockHounds for the 2011 regular season would end on a hot July night. Going into the final game of the three game series against Midland, the Cardinals looked to take the three game set and split the season series.
Charlie Cutler had four more hits, including one of his team’s four home runs, and the Springfield Cardinals also got two credible innings of relief from big-leaguer Eduardo Sanchez on Tuesday night, beating the Midland RockHounds 13-3 at Hammons Field.

It was a hot and muggy day at Hammons Field as the Cardinals looked to even the series against the RockHounds in game two of the three game series.
