Virgil Hill Honored For His Performance In MiLB Playoffs

Appalachian League
Virgil Hill, Johnson City
.444/.444/1.556, 4-for-9, 1 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 5 RBI, 3 RS, 0 BB, 2 K, 0 SB, 0 CS
It took the Cardinals just four games to sweep their way through the Appy League playoffs, and Virgil Hill took advantage of limited opportunity to help expedite Johnson City's assent to the top. A sixth-round choice of St. Louis in 2009, Hill hit .289 with a pair of home runs and 16 RBIs in his first campaign above the Gulf Coast League. He wasn't in the starting lineup in either of the Cards' first two playoff tilts, but after entering Game 2 on defense and bashing an eighth-inning home run in his lone trip to the plate, he started Game 1 of the Finals. In the clincher, he homered and doubled, driving in three.
