Free Agent Spotlight: Lefty Outfielders
When I posted my spotlight on Marcell Ozuna, I was expecting more agreement with my conclusion, which is that I would be good with Ozuna signing a reasonable and short extension with the team. I have frequently found myself out of lockstep with the fanbase on resigning Ozuna (I wasn’t for it), but since his playoff performance is getting more distant, people seem less reactionary about resigning him. Instead, most people (at least in the comments) didn’t want to resign him. And I totally get it.

The Cardinals Can't Afford To Be Patient
The Cardinals are in the position of being a solid overall team, yet a team that needs to improve in order to be a true World Series contender. They are likely in good position to make the postseason in 2020 with their current roster, but they need improvements if they want anything more than that. Nonetheless, with an already good lineup and decent depth accompanied by a self-imposed budget limit, it appears that it will be challenging for the Cardinals to substantially improve.

Improve The Outfield? John Mozeliak & The Cardinals May Keep You On Hold
The worst thing a sports team can do once they find their way back on top is become complacent. It's like accepting a participation trophy and going to get pizza to celebrate that you are merely alive instead of wondering why you weren't more successful.

Marcus Stroman 'Extremely Frustrated' With Recent Starts
For more than a month now, the Mets have waited (somewhat) patiently for the Marcus Stroman they thought they acquired before the July 31 Trade Deadline to arrive. At the time, the deal for Stroman signaled a real push for the Mets to contend in 2019. With Stroman filling out their rotation, the Mets -- even self-defined “underdogs” as they were -- would have a strong chance to win every night.
