Ex-Cardinals Watch 7-8-09: Chad Ehrnsberger & Kris Honel Named All-Stars; Kip Wells & Scott Vander Weg Sign Deals; Alberto Castillo Traded

It has been a remarkable run for Scott Rolen. Over the past month, the Blue Jays third baseman has pieced together one of the longest hitting streaks in team history, collecting at least one hit in 24 consecutive games.

Alberto Castillo (Long Island):
The Long Island Ducks acquired infielder Alberto Castillo from the Newark Bears for a player to be named later on Monday.

The Golden Baseball League announced today that the 2009 All-Star selections have been made and the teams are set for next week's clash to be held at Bruce Hurst Field in St. George, Utah on Tuesday, July 14th at 7 P.M. In addition to the game, there will be a Fan Fest with an autograph session at 5 P.M. and a Home Run Derby at 6 P.M.

Tuesday was Elvis Night at Comerica Park, and Tigers mascot Paws wore an Elvis Presley wig, black leather jacket and did some of the King's karate moves.

Winnipeg Goldeyes Release Chad Ehrnsberger
As Crowell joined the Goldeyes, Forney released infielder Chad Ehrnsberger. A mid-season addition last year, Ehrnsberger batted .312 in 42 games for Winnipeg, but would have been classified as a Veteran this season.

Newark Bears Of Atlantic League Folds, Chad Ehrnsberger Comments
Breaking News! Bears Have Folded: According to a top-level team source, the Newark Bears are no more. Team owner Marc Berson has decided the Bears were losing too much money each year to continue. He also felt as if he wasn't receiving the proper support from a number of people, including in the community and around the league. More to come. - Scott Stanchak
