Matt Carpenter Is Making Up For Lost Time As Sad Start Turns Into Unstoppable Midseason

In the early​ days of​ May,​ Matt​ Carpenter​ looked like​ the​ saddest​ man​ you’d​ ever seen.​ After​​ having his confidence pierced by another strikeout, Carpenter wore the pain on his face as he walked back to the dugout. He was stressed, bewildered and exhausted. A pitiable figure, somehow feeling all alone in a ballpark packed with 45,000 people.
