The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight's game that they have recalled first baseman Luke Voit from Memphis (AAA) and optioned right-handed pitcher Mike Mayers to the triple-A Redbirds.

With the schedule working to their advantage and a fresh arm already loaded in the bullpen, the Cardinals added a bat to their bench at the expense of a pitcher on Tuesday. The club recalled first baseman/outfielder Luke Voit from Triple-A Memphis, optioning righty Mike Mayers in a corresponding move.
