Cardinals Purchased The Contract Of Luke Weaver From Triple-A Memphis & Placed Matt Holliday On The 15-Day Disabled List

The St. Louis Cardinals have purchased the contract of rookie right-handed pitcher Luke Weaver to make the start in today's 1:20 p.m., game against the Chicago Cubs. Outfielder Matt Holliday has been placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to August 12 with a thumb fracture suffered in Thursday night's game.

In an expected move that gets their roster in order for this afternoon's game against the Cubs, the St. Louis Cardinals purchased the contract of pitcher Luke Weaver and placed left fielder Matt Holliday on the 15-day disabled list.
