As part of their series of moves Tuesday afternoon to clear room on the roster for a new player and two returning players, the Cardinals optioned Randal Grichuk to Class AAA, where there is less of a thicket of center fielders for him to elbow aside.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight’s series opener in Cincinnati that they have activated infielder Jhonny Peralta (left thumb) and first baseman/outfielder Brandon Moss (left ankle) from the 15-day disabled list and added newly-acquire left-handed pitcher Zach Duke to the team’s 25-man active roster.
