Cardinals Placed Matt Carpenter On The 15-Day Disabled List & Purchase The Contract Of Michael McKenry From Triple-A Memphis

The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to today's game that they have placed All-Star infielder Matt Carpenter (right oblique strain) on the 15-day disabled list and purchased the contract of catcher Michael McKenry from Memphis (AAA).

The Cardinals will be without their All-Star second baseman for an indefinite period of time after an MRI exam revealed that Matt Carpenter sustained a Grade 2 strain of his right oblique in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Pirates.
